Maseru’s streets display many different types of architectural styles; you can find roof thatch next to concrete blocks of offices, or old colonial buildings.
However, most of traditional houses in Lesotho are made of terra cotta and they have been replaced by modern accommodations and office buildings that keep reminding Lesotho tradition thanks to the colors of the edifices. Recently, some new ones were built in the city center; the buildings that were destroyed during the political uprising of 1998 were rebuilt since.
You can also find some edifices from colonial times around the town center, like cathedrals and churches, and many other sites with a former political status.
Maseru, and more broadly Lesotho, are a great place of interest for people who enjoy architecture!
